The Founder Behind the Mission

Purple Diamond Press reflects the personal and professional experiences of its founder, Charity M. Harris.

A graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, Harris earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design with a concentration in Web Design and a minor in Marketing Management.

Her professional experience extends beyond design and marketing.

For more than a decade, she worked directly with children through tutoring and educational support services, gaining firsthand insight into literacy development, learning styles, confidence building, and the challenges facing today’s students.

This educational experience would later become one of the company’s greatest strengths.

As both an author and entrepreneur, Harris experienced many of the same publishing challenges faced by the authors Purple Diamond Press now serves.

She recognized the need for a publishing model that combined professional quality with genuine collaboration.

Rather than asking authors to surrender control of their work, she envisioned a company that would work alongside authors to bring meaningful stories to life.

That vision became Purple Diamond Press.

    Why Purple Diamond Press?

    We Care. It's That Simple!

    01. We are purpose and mission driven

Purple Diamond Press was born from rejection—but fueled by love. I wanted to publish stories that make a difference, stories that help children feel seen, heard, and valued—especially those who are often left out.

Today, our books have reached hundreds of thousands of families, been featured on ABC7 News, read aloud on the BBC, and donated by the San Francisco 49ers to public schools across California.

    02. We are change-makers

We believe that books can change lives.

We believe every child deserves to feel like they belong.

We believe kindness, diversity, and inclusion aren’t just themes—they’re the foundation of everything we do.

    03. Every child matters

This journey hasn’t been easy—but it’s been deeply rewarding. I write for the child who feels different, the classroom that needs more kindness, and the parent searching for books that reflect real values.

    Highlighting Disability Employment Bias

    Title

At Purple Diamond Press, we recognize that disability is a vital part of diversity, not an exception to it. Despite federal protections, people with disabilities remain significantly underrepresented in the workforce due to systemic barriers and bias. We are committed to changing that narrative by championing inclusion, amplifying the voices of people with disabilities, and creating equitable opportunities across all levels of our organization and partnerships.

Because true inclusion means more than welcoming words—it means building systems that remove barriers, champion equity, and hold us accountable to the full potential of every person.
